The terms for your website

What you get

A new website for your business, put live on your web address, plus hosting, the security certificate, backups, a monthly check that your call button and quote form work, a weekly refresh, and small edits every month. I aim to put the site live within 5 business days of getting your domain access and anything else I ask for.

Weekly refresh

Once a week I check your Google reviews and the public social media pages you tell me about, and add new reviews, job photos and news to your site. Reviews are quoted word for word with the reviewer's name as published. You can tell me to leave anything off, or to stop the refresh. The refresh doesn't count toward your hour of small edits. I only read public pages; I don't post to your accounts.

Price and payment

You pay the setup fee and the monthly fee shown at checkout. The monthly fee is charged automatically each month by Stripe. If a payment fails, Stripe tries again and emails you. There is no late fee.

Minimum term and cancelling

The minimum term is 3 months from the day you pay. After that, the site runs month to month. To cancel, email me with 30 days' notice. You can't cancel inside the minimum term, but you can give notice so it ends right when the minimum term does.

Your website after you leave

After the minimum term, if you cancel, I send you a full copy of your site's files for free within 5 business days, and you can host it anywhere. Moving it to another host for you is billed by the hour.

Your domain

Your web address is always in your name. If you already have one, it stays with the company you bought it from, and you give me access. I copy your email settings before I change anything, so your email keeps working. If I register a new web address for you, you are listed as the owner, I pay the renewal while you are a client, and it is yours to keep if you leave.

Your content

Your words, photos, logo and reviews stay yours. You confirm that you own, or have permission to use, every photo, logo and piece of text you give me.

Small edits

A small edit changes something already on the site: hours, phone number, prices, a service description, a photo, a new review, a holiday notice or a staff name. New pages, new sections, a redesign and new features are not small edits. You get up to 1 hour of small edits a month. Unused time does not carry over. Edits go live within 2 business days of your email. If a request will take more than the hour, I tell you and quote it before I start.

If a payment is missed

At 7 days unpaid, I email you. At 30 days unpaid, edits stop and the site shows a short "back soon" page until you pay. At 60 days unpaid, this agreement ends. Your domain stays yours.

What is not included

Ads, ongoing search ranking campaigns, promises about where you appear on Google, photo shoots, and managing your Google Business Profile, social media or email accounts. I can quote extra work separately.

Limits

I keep the site online and fix problems I cause as fast as I reasonably can, but I can't promise the site will never be down, since hosting companies and the internet can fail. My total responsibility to you is limited to the fees you paid me in the 3 months before a problem. Illinois law applies to these terms.
